Mukesh Chhabra recalled that Aamir Khan hosted a party after Laal Singh Chaddha tanked at the box office.
Kareena Kapoor Khan and Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha was very much in the news ever since it was announced. However, the film, which was a Hindi remake of Forrest Grump, did not perform well at the box office. It failed badly and sent the Hindi cinema into a realm of introspection. Now, Mukesh Chhabra who has been the leading face in the casting industry as well as an actor revealed that Aamir Khan threw a party for everyone associated with the film, to apologise.
Speaking with The Lallantap, Mukesh Chhabra recalled how Aamir Khan and others reacted,
“It doesn’t impact my agency professionally, but personally, you feel bad. After the movie flopped, I spoke to Aamir and Advait Chandan (director); we couldn’t believe the movie had been thrashed. For a film to flop is one thing, but a disaster is a whole different thing altogether.”
He continued, “Not too many people know this, but Aamir hosted a party for all of us in honour of the crew. He said, ‘Sorry the film didn’t work, but we should all meet’. Who does this? We were all wondering why they’re having a party, but they wanted all the departments to come together. Everyone was there, Advait, Pritam, Kareena, everyone was there, Amitabh Bhattacharya is singing songs from the film. Aamir kept saying that it was his fault.”
Kareena Kapoor had also recalled meeting Aamir at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) event. “Recently, Aamir and I were at the inauguration of NMACC (Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre). That’s when we first met after (Laal Singh Chaddha). Well, I saw his face, and I could see how he was looking at me, apologetic and sad, at the same time. Together, we’ve delivered big films – 3 Idiots (2009) and Talaash (2012). But you know what? It doesn’t matter. I wrote a long letter (on WhatsApp) to both Aamir and the director (Advait Chandan), telling them that our relationships and talent don’t depend on the outcome of a film,” she shared with Mid-Day.
Laal Singh Chaddha, directed by Advait Chandan and starring Aamir Khan, is a heartwarming tale that has resonated with audiences globally. It also stars Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya.
