The 2023 edition of the motor show will now only be held in Doha, Qatar in November next year.
The Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS), scheduled between February 14-19, 2023, has been cancelled “due to uncertainties in the global economy and geopolitics”. The motor show was to be held in two parts next year – in Geneva, Switzerland in February and the other in Doha, Qatar in November.

The biggest motoring event in Europe has been cancelled for the fourth year in a row, with the previous three – 2020, 2021 and 2022 – being cancelled due to COVID-19 related complications. The event will only be held – on a biennial basis – in Doha next year. The Qatar Geneva International Motor Show will debut at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center and other decentralised venues.
“We have done everything possible to ensure that we could host GIMS 2023 in Geneva in February,” said Maurice Turettini, president of the permanent committee of GIMS. “The enhanced event format and project had been very well received. But, in the end, the risks overweighed the opportunities.”
Sandro Mesquita, CEO of GIMS said, “In these uncertain times, many brands are not in a position to commit to participating in a show in Europe in the winter.”
The dates and format for the motor show in Doha will be announced soon, confirms Mesquita.
