The Renault Kiger has been updated for the 2022 model year, with prices now starting from ₹ 5.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The price has gone up by ₹ 5,000 as against the previous iteration. For the additional money, Renault has also thrown in a few cosmetic updates with new convenience features.
For 2022, the Kiger gets a new silver skid plate for the front bumper with a new chrome garnish for the tail gate. Turbo-petrol variants also get a new ‘Turbo’ decal over the door claddings and the 16-inch alloys get new red accents. The Kiger also gets a new funky dual-tone mustard yellow with black roof colour option.
The biggest additions are on the features front. The Kiger now gets cruise control and wireless phone charging, although Renault has not specified from which variant it will be offered. So far, wireless charging was only available as an optional extra with the Smart+ pack, while cruise control was missing altogether.
The interior also gets a red accent on the dashboard and a new quilted pattern for the seats with red contrast stitching. Renault has also made the PM2.5 air filter standard across the range.
The RXT(O) variant launched last year as part of Renault’s 10th anniversary celebrations in India was so far only available with the 1.0-litre NA petrol engine. Now, the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, with both manual and automatic gearboxes, are also available with the RXT(O) variant.
Under the skin, the Kiger remains mechanically unchanged. That means it continues with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 72hp and 96Nm of torque, along with a 1.0-litre, turbo-petrol engine making 100hp and 160Nm.
