2022 INMRC Round 4 results: KY Ahamed, Prabhu Arunagiri win

The penultimate round of the 2022 Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship saw KY Ahamed chip away at Rajini Krishnan’s lead in the Pro-Stock 301-400cc category. The Petronas TVS Racing rider won both races at the Madras International Circuit.

Pro-Stock 301-400cc

Petronas TVS Racing locked out the podium in Race 1, with Ahamed winning ahead of Deepak Ravikumar and Jagan Kumar. 10-time national champion Krishnan could only manage seventh place, as his engine was stuck in fifth gear after losing the gear shift lever on Lap 2.

In Race 2, Ahamed slipped to second as he missed a gear at the start. He spent most of the race battling it out with teammate Ravikumar, passing him on the last lap to take victory. Troubles continued for Krishnan as he crashed on the first lap, but he was able to carry on and recovered to third place. This was enough to hold on to the overall championship lead with 161 points, while Ahamed is second with 126 points, just one point ahead of Ravikumar.

Pro-Stock 165cc Open

Pacer Yamaha’s Prabhu Arunagiri also notched double wins in the Pro-Stock 165cc Open category. Race 1 witnessed a dramatic finish, with three riders crossing the finish line almost locked together. Leader Mathana Kumar dropped from first to third on the very last lap, allowing Arunagiri to clinch his first win this season ahead of Honda’s Rajiv Sethu.

Race 2 also went down to the wire, with Arunagiri just about fending off Jagan Kumar and Rajiv Sethu. Mathana’s fifth-place finish was enough for him to hold on to the overall lead with 126 points. Sethu is second overall with 109 points.

Novice (Stock 165cc)

12-year-old Shreyas Hareesh defeated riders almost twice his age to win Race 1. This was his first outing in the Novice class this season. Shreyas Hareesh recently won the first ever FIM MiniGP India title and will be representing the country at the world finals. Six riders were battling it out for a spot on the podium for Race 2. Eventually, Rohan Ramesh took victory ahead of championship leader Sarvesh Balappa and P Vignesh Goud.

In the Girls (Stock 165cc) category, pole sitter Lani Zena Fernandez and Jagruti Penkar exchanged the lead throughout the five-lap race. Fernandez made a decisive move on the last lap to take her first win this season.

Aditi Krishnan picked up her fourth consecutive win in the Girls (Apache RTR 200) category, while Chiranth Vishwanath scored another double win and remains undefeated in the Rookie (Apache RTR 200) category.

Raheesh Mudassar Khatri remains undefeated in the CBR150R category after picking up another two wins.
