The fully-loaded new Creta would be an ideal replacement, but will cost over Rs 20 lakh, on road.
We have a 2016 Hyundai Creta diesel automatic (top model) that has completed around 1,00,000km. Recently, we carried out a rather expensive service and now we’re contemplating selling it, as upkeep costs seem rather high. What is the ideal upgrade in the Rs 20 lakh range? We didn’t like the Toyota Hyryder-Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara duo, my family doesn’t want another Creta or the Kia Seltos, and the Mahindra XUV700 is too big. Please advise.

Autocar India says: The new Hyundai Creta or Kia Seltos diesel automatic would have been ideal replacements for your Creta, however, you will have to spend more than Rs 20 lakh, on road, for the fully-loaded variants. But since you don’t want either of these and also don’t like the options available in the market, we’d suggest you hold on to your Creta for a bit longer. You’ve already spent a sizable amount on its upkeep, so chances are that the Creta will soldier along without being too demanding on your pocket as it is generally a rather reliable car. After a year or two, you could consider upgrading to something from a segment above the current lot. You are likely to have a lot more options then.Â
