An insider revealed that Will Smith remains unwilling to “forgive” Chris Rock for the impact the whole incident had on his life.

The tension between Will Smith and Chris Rock stemming from the infamous 2022 Oscars slap shows no signs of resolution. Reports suggest Smith harbours lingering anger towards Rock, allegedly due to the comedian’s “smug attitude” in the aftermath. Insiders reveal that the I Am Legend actor “still hates” Rock and finds some satisfaction in watching the Grown Ups star face struggles. The feud began at the Academy Awards when Rock’s joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head prompted Smith to slap him onstage, followed by a demand to keep his wife’s name “out of his mouth.”
A source reportedly told InTouch Weekly that seeing Rock face difficulties, “Will’s getting the last laugh and loving it.” After the Oscars 2022 incident, Will faced heavy criticism, which hurt his reputation, as a result, the Men In Black actor plans to “never forgive Chris for ruining his life, even though he’s managed to pick up the pieces in the last year or so. He still hates the guy and his smug attitude.”
The source added, “Chris isn’t the victim here, not in Will’s opinion. A lot of people would agree with Will and think what’s happening to Chris is karma for refusing to speak to Will or accept his apology.”
The source also mentioned that regardless of the situation, violence against a comedian for making a joke is unacceptable. Chris Rock, on the other hand, is also affected by the incident, as he’s suffering from PTSD and admitted that, just like Will, he too didn’t fully recover from the slap. It seems impossible that Will and Rock will ever come together because both are determined to stay enemies. Some think they should let go and move on, but the source believes both are too proud to do that.
Although Will Smith took home the Academy Award for his role in King Richard the same year, he faced serious consequences. He’s currently banned from attending the Oscars for 10 years and chose to resign from the Academy. While he has apologised to the organisation during his acceptance speech, he did not extend an apology to Chris Rock.
