Vikrant Massey has already proved his acting prowess in several films and television shows. In 2024, he was seen in four back-to-back projects – Blackout, hir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, Sector 36 and The Sabarmati Report, with all of which the actor gained much appreciation. Shortly after that, amidst reports of his many other upcoming projects, he announced taking a break to be with his family. Now, that the reports of him taking a villainous role surfaced on the internet, social media users are questioning the actor about his retirement.

As per a report by PeepingMoon, Vikrant Massey ditched a heroic role in Rajkumar Hirani’s debut web show titled Pritam Pedro. However, the actor chose a villainous role and all by his availability during the shoot schedule. The report stated, “Tentatively titled Pritam Pedro, the show will now star Rajkumar Hirani’s son Vir Hirani and Arshad Warsi in the lead roles. Vir takes on the role initially intended for Vikrant—a young, tech-savvy police officer, while Arshad Warsi will play Pedro, an experienced cop who relies on traditional investigative methods.”

The report further read, “The show marks a significant milestone for Hirani, as he not only launches his son into the film industry but also collaborates with Arshad Warsi nearly 19 years after their classic Munna Bhai franchise,” adding more details about the cast and crew of the film. “National Award-winning filmmaker Avinash Arun, who’s popularly known for directing Jaideep Ahlawat’s Amazon Prime series, Paatal Lok, has joined the Disney+ Hotstar series as a co-director alongside ad filmmaker Amit Satyaveer Singh. The series is currently being filmed in Mumbai, with production expected to wrap up by March 2025.”

Soon after the update was posted on X, social media users rushed to the comment section to point out about Massey’s break from acting. While one user said, “What about his retirement?? Lol.” Another commented, “Isn’t he quit working in cinema?” One more comment read, “Vikrant to break le raha tha na acting se uska kya hua.” “Vikram bhai retired yet he signed 10 films & web series,” said a person. One more comment read, “Vikrant Massey to compete with Shahid Afridi for the highest number of ‘retirements’.”

Talking about his retirement, Massey once in a heartfelt post stated that he would meet audiences “one last time” in 2025 “until time deems right.” This made his fans believe that he was taking retirement from his acting career. However, soon, he had refurbished all such rumours and clarified that it was just a well-deserved break, nothing else. In a roundtable discussion with RJ Rohini, he explained, “Ab mujhe aisa lag raha hai wahi same cheez main kar raha hun (Now I feel like I’m doing the same thing). Standards of good are so low, ki mere hisaab se jo average, below average hai woh logon ke liye good hai (According to me, the average, below average is good for the people),” adding, “I want to act for as long as I can. I want to keep that creative thing within me alive. Isiliye maine socha ki (That’s why, I thought) this is the right time for me.”

He also added, “Shaadi ki, biwi ke saath honeymoon pe nahi jaa paaye. Uske saath 3 mahine se zyaada baith nahi paaye. Beta hua, ‘papa’ mere peeth peeche usne kaha, chalna mere peeche shuru kiya, uske daant aaye main dekh nahi paaya. Videos pe, photos pe main usko bada hote hue dekh raha hun (I got married and could not go on honeymoon with my wife. I could not sit with her for more than 3 months. I had a son, he said ‘papa’ on my back, he started walking on my back, I could not see his teeth come. I can see him growing up on videos and photos).”

Coming to his upcoming ventures, Massey will next star in Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan alongside debutant Shanaya Kapoor and others. Directed by Santosh Singh, it is a love story based on Ruskin Bond’s book. Additionally, he will also be seen in Don 3, co-starring Ranveer Singh, which will begin production in July 2025.
