On 12 March, PM Modi inaugurated and dedicated the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway to the nation. The 118-km expressway is built at the cost of ₹8,408 crore. The expressway reduced the time between Bengaluru and Mysore from 3.5 hours to around 1.5 hours.
Earlier, NHAI had increased the toll charges on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway by 22 percent. The increase in toll charges came into effect from June 1 and was applicable for cars, buses and trucks. Prior to that, it had tried to raise the toll prices on April 1 as well but had to take back the new charges after an uproar from the commuters.
