Suzuki Hayabusa, recall, braking issue, details -DellyRanks

Suzuki India has issued a voluntary recall for the third generation model of its popular Hayabusa over a potential front brake issue.

  1. Units affected have been manufactured between March 2021 and September 2024
  2. Issue related to potential front brake lever play

The Suzuki Hayabusa is one of the most popular superbikes on sale in India and the third gen model has been on sale here since 2021 and it appears that most, if not all of the bikes that have been sold in India since then, come under this recall.

In total, 1056 units have been affected and the issue is listed as, “The front brake lever play increases, in the worst case, the lever contacts with the throttle grip and the braking distance increases.”

From the sound of it, it appears that the front brake level play can get excessive to the point that the lever may come in contact with the handlebar, which can lead to a dangerous situation. Braking was always one of the weak points with earlier generation Busas, but the gen-3 model fixed this with a move to Brembo Stylema calipers and 10mm larger discs.

We have reached out to the company for information on what fixes this recall will make and how long it will take to carry out – we will update this space with the company’s response.
