Sunny Deol to star in a family drama Safar?

Sunny Deol is currently gearing up for his next action drama Jaat. The film has been creating a lot of buzz ahead of release. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, the film is set for a grand theatrical release on April 10, 2025. Well, amid this a report is coming in that Sunny will be soon seen in a family drama tentatively titled Safar.

Mid-day has quoted a source saying, “There is no action in the film; it revolves around Sunny’s middle-aged family man, who realizes that one can find happiness only by helping people and learns the true meaning of life.” The source further shared that when Sunny was approached by the makers, he loved the story and immediately agreed to do it.

The report also mentioned that makers are skipping the theatrical release and planning to release it directly on a digital platform. “They felt such subjects are more conducive for a digital platform,” the source said. It further added that a streaming platform is expected to be finalized by June. The makers are reportedly planning to release the film by the end of 2025.

Coming to Jaat, recently, Sunny Deol unveiled a gripping 20-second character glimpse, introducing Randeep Hooda as Ranatunga—the fierce and formidable antagonist of Jaat.

The clip begins with Randeep sitting inside, what seems like, a police station along with other prisoners. He says, “Mujhe mera naam bohot pyaara hai (My name means to me a lot).” The video then turns to a dramatic scene of the actor sitting outside in the rain with a rustic jute sack draped over him. He lights a cigarette with an intense stare. As it progresses, his character evolves, entering full beast mode and holding a knife with deadly precision.

Apart from Sunny and Randeep, the film also features an ensemble cast, including Viineet Kumar SiIngh, Saiyami Kher and Regina Cassandra.

Backed by Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory, the film’s action sequences have been crafted by Anl Arasu, Ram Laxman and Venkat. S Thaman has composed the electrifying soundtrack and Rishi Punjabi is the cinematographer.

Sunny, on the other hand, will also be seen in the period drama film Lahore 1947 opposite Preity Zinta and the war film Border 2.
