Tom Holland hints at stepping away from acting to focus on family life, while sharing insights into working with Zendaya and their upcoming projects.
Tom Holland, celebrated for his portrayal of Spider-Man, recently opened up about his future plans in an interview with Men’s Health. While fans eagerly await his return in Spider-Man 4, Avengers: Doomsday, and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, Holland revealed that he’s contemplating stepping away from acting altogether.
“When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore,” Holland said candidly. “Golf and dad. And I will just disappear off the face of the earth.”
Holland, now 28, has hinted in the past that Spider-Man 4 might be his final stint as Peter Parker, with speculation rife that the mantle could be passed to a live-action Miles Morales. However, his comments suggest he might leave Hollywood altogether to embrace fatherhood and a quieter life.
The actor also touched on why he doesn’t walk the red carpet with his girlfriend and Spider-Man co-star, Zendaya. “It’s not my moment; it’s her moment,” he explained. “If we go together, it’s about us.” This is why Holland was absent at Zendaya’s premieres for Challengers and Dune: Part Two.
Despite keeping their public appearances minimal, the duo is set to reunite on-screen for Spider-Man 4 and Nolan’s The Odyssey. Speaking about their work dynamic, Holland shared, “Studios love it. One hotel room. Separate drivers. We’re not crazy now. Listen, it’s work, alright? It’s a saving grace. Yeah, best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
Zendaya has also expressed her admiration for Holland, saying, “It’s actually strangely comfortable. It’s like second nature. You feel extra safe with the person you’re acting beside. I love working with him. He’s so talented and passionate, always giving one thousand percent.”
Holland’s journey from a child actor to a global star has been remarkable. While his recent projects like Uncharted and The Crowded Room didn’t hit the mark, his fans are hopeful that his upcoming roles will solidify his legacy.
Spider-Man 4, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and penned by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, is slated for release on July 26, 2026.
