South Korean director Park Hee-gon, known for films like Perfect Game, Target, and Insadong Scandal, has sadly passed away at the age of 56. His death was confirmed on April 30 by OSEN, but the cause has yet to be revealed. Those close to him will say their goodbyes at Myungji Hospital in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province. Fans and the film community are mourning the loss of a talented director who left a lasting impact through his work.

Park Hee-Gon graduated from Kyungwon University with a degree in English literature. His journey into the world of cinema began with a success in a national college student advertising competition, where he won the prestigious Daesang.
Park Hee-Gon began his career in the entertainment industry as a music video director before transitioning to filmmaking. He initially worked as a scriptwriter and became involved with Insadong Scandal. His next project, Perfect Game, focused on the legendary rivalry between Korean baseball pitchers Choi Dong-Won and Sun Dong-Yeol.
Park Hee-Gon also directed Fengshui (2018), a historical drama, and Catman (2021), a romantic comedy. His latest work, Target (2023), starring Shin Hye-Sun, garnered significant attention from audiences. Known alternatively as Don’t Buy the Seller, the film explores the suspenseful events that unfold in Soo-Hyun’s life when she becomes a target of crime through second-hand trading. The cast also included Kim Sung-Kyun, Im Chul-Soo, Lee Joo-Young, and others.
