Shah Rukh Khan’s bald look in Jawan was never planned, reveals makeup artist Preetisheel Singh D’Souza.
Shah Rukh Khan’s 2023 comeback was nothing short of spectacular, with Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki dominating the box office. While each film had its own charm, it was SRK’s striking bald look in Jawan that stole the spotlight and became an instant sensation. Interestingly, this now-iconic appearance wasn’t part of the original plan.
In a recent interview with The Times of India, renowned makeup and prosthetic artist Preetisheel Singh D’Souza revealed that the bald look emerged purely by accident during an experimental look test. The team had been exploring different wigs and styles for Shah Rukh’s character when the unexpected happened.
“We were testing various wigs along with his salt-and-pepper beard,” Preetisheel recalled. “At one point, we applied a bald cap just to see how it would pair with his facial hair. When we removed the wig, the entire team paused—he looked like an absolute rock star. It was electrifying.”
The moment they saw how perfectly the bald look complemented Shah Rukh Khan’s face shape and the intensity of his character Vikram Rathore, the decision was made instantly. What started as an experimental test became one of the most defining elements of the film, earning widespread praise from both fans and critics.
But SRK’s transformation for Jawan didn’t stop at the bald look. The superstar also showcased a leaner, more chiseled physique, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to his craft. Preetisheel, who has worked with Khan previously, including for a cola advertisement, was equally impressed by his fitness. “He’s 60, but he looks ripped. His discipline is truly inspiring,” she added.
On the professional front, Shah Rukh Khan is now gearing up for his next project, King, where he will share the screen with his daughter Suhana Khan for the first time. Directed by Pathaan’s Siddharth Anand, the film promises high-octane action and an intriguing plot. Adding to the excitement, Abhishek Bachchan is reportedly set to play a never-before-seen negative role in the movie.
