Amid the controversy regarding Ranveer Allahbadia’s recent comments on India’s Got Latent, the maker of the show, comedian Samay Raina, has reportedly cancelled his Gujarat shows. The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Wednesday claimed that the stand-up comedian is no longer scheduled to perform in the state and his show tickets have been taken down from the platform BookMyShow.

VHP spokesperson Hitendrasinh Rajput claimed that Raina had planned four shows in the state. Reportedly, he was supposed to perform in Surat on April 17, in Vadodara on April 18 and in Ahmedabad on April 19 and 20.

“It appears all these four shows have been cancelled due to public outrage against him in Gujarat. Though tickets for these shows were available till morning (of Wednesday) on BookMyShow, it seems they have been now taken down from the portal,” Rajput claimed, as quoted by Hindustan Times.

In another statement, VHP regional secretary Ashvin Patel also claimed that the organisers decided to cancel Raina’s shows due to the recent controversy. “In view of the anger among people, it appears organisers have cancelled Samay Raina’s upcoming shows in Gujarat. We are thankful to the people of Gujarat for showing such alertness. I also ask organisers to refrain from organising events of such people in Gujarat,” he said.

This comes at a time when Samay Raina has been facing backlash for Ranveer Allahbadia’s recent comments on India’s Got Latent. Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, during a recent episode of the show, allegedly asked a contestant an inappropriate question involving body parts and proposed an indecent act in exchange for Rs 2 crore. The outrage peaked when he posed a controversial question: “Would you watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join once to stop it forever?”

The comment left many shocked and disappointed. In no time, the video went viral on social media with many, including politicians and film personalities, condemning Allahbadia’s comment. Following the incident, a police complaint was filed against Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina and several co-judges, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Makhija.

While Ranveer has already apologised for his words, Samay also issued a statement on Wednesday night, revealing that he had deleted all of India’s Got Latent episodes from YouTube.

“Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all ‘India’s Got Latent’ videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you,” he said.
