Salman Khan mentioned this during his first ever podcast with nephew Arhaan Khan.
Salman Khan made his much-anticipated podcast debut on his nephew Arhaan Khan’s YouTube channel called Dumb Biryani. Joining Arhaan and his friends Dev Raiyani and Arush Sharma, the Bollywood superstar engaged in a candid conversation covering several facets of his life. Salman was also seen sharing his thoughts on friendship and how important it is to maintain a positive circle of people.
Salman Khan shared, “I have many friends, who are still with me after all these years. This is what you need to achieve with your friends. I don’t see them very often, but whenever we meet, our bond remains the same. We connect on the same page. We are all in touch, whenever we need something.”
Salman Khan then opened up about his early days in the industry, recalling a time when money was tight, and success felt far away. He spoke candidly about the struggles he faced before making it big and shared, “There is a friend of mine from the Maine Pyaar Kiya days. When I was doing Sanam Bewafa, he gave me Rs 15,000. Back then Rs 15,000 was a huge amount. We were in Manali and we were shopping, I liked something but I didn’t have the money, so he gave it to me. We have been friends ever since.”
Salman also spoke about the true meaning of friendship, saying that real friends never expect anything in return, regardless of fame or status. He fondly mentioned his long-time photographer friend, highlighting how, despite knowing each other for years, they’ve never worked together professionally. He said, “A lot of friends come and go, and then there are friends who always want something from you, and expect things. Those people should not be around. There should be no needs, wants, demands and selfishness about friendships.”
The actor also stressed on the necessity of letting go of people. The actor shared, “We should let go of people we’ve given several second chances to. When they don’t change, you let them go. However, whenever you meet them, you should be cordial. Don’t have any malice in your heart against these people because everyone has their own life journey. Everyone has their own views. So you should let them do their own thing.”
Salman also shared a valuable life lesson about knowing when to let go of certain people. He explained that while friendships and relationships matter, sometimes distancing yourself is necessary to protect your peace and well-being.

He added, “Never say they betrayed you. It is you who trusted them so much and they simply took an advantage of it. And then there are people who will trust you blindly and they will never take advantage. And with some people, you realise after about 20 years that they were fooling you this whole time.”
