For all those eagerly waiting for the third instalment of Rani Mukerji-led Mardaani, we have news. On Monday, March 21, the makers announced the release date of the film. Last year, YRF announced Mardaani 3, marking 10 years of the franchise. Rani plays the daredevil Shivani Shivaji Roy, who’s ruthless to criminals and can’t tolerate injustice.
YRF announced that Mardaani 3 will release on February 27, 2026, marking the Holi festival as its release window. Well, the festival window isn’t just for business purposes. The film’s release has been purposely scheduled for the Holi weekend (which falls on March 4), symbolising the triumph of good over bad. The makers are pegging this film to be a bloody, violent clash between Shivani’s goodness versus sinister evil forces with its choice of release date. The makers also shared a new poster featuring Rani, while sharing the release date. Take a look:
In 2023, Rani Mukerji confirmed her return in Mardaani 3. Expressing her excitement, she shared, “I’m thrilled to see how ‘Mardaani 3’ shapes up. I’m keeping my fingers crossed because I would love to step back into the shoes of Shivani Shivaji Roy.”
In an official statement, Rani emphasised the importance of a strong script for the next film, saying, “I will be very happy and excited if the ‘Mardaani 3’ script is something truly compelling. As an actor, I believe in doing a film only when the story is powerful and has a meaningful impact.”
Further reflecting on her experience with the sequel, she stated, “When I did ‘Mardaani 2’, I was quite nervous because I had never done a sequel before. I wondered if I could reprise a character I had already left behind. But to my surprise, I enjoyed it immensely. Now, having experienced it, I’m eager to reprise the role once again in ‘Mardaani 3’.”
The first Mardaani film released in 2014. The makers released the second instalment of the film in 2019 after a great response. Seven years after Mardaani 2, the makers are finall all set to release Mardaani 3 in 2026.
