Prices for the entry-level Porsche Taycan are now listed on the brand’s site. Porsche has confirmed that the Taycan RWD’s price is Rs 1.67 crore, and that bookings will start soon. India prices for the facelifted Taycan were revealed back in July last year, but until now, the four-door EV was only available in 4S and Turbo guises. The German brand has confirmed that bookings for the Taycan RWD are open in the country, and deliveries have also commenced.

With the introduction of the Taycan RWD, the EV’s price range has expanded, making the model more accessible; it is priced Rs 24 lakh lower than the Taycan 4S, and Rs 87 lakh less than the Turbo. It should be noted that the Taycan in international markets is also available in Turbo S, and Turbo GT, though Porsche has not yet confirmed their arrival in India. Nor does our market get the Taycan Cross Turismo estate version.

Porsche’s website confirms that the India-spec Taycan RWD will be available in the Performance Plus Battery version, which means it’ll have the same 105kWh (gross) battery pack as the 4S and Turbo on sale here. This battery pack in the RWD has a WLTP range of 579-678km on a single charge, which is a significant improvement over the 4S’s range of 549-642km. That the RWD weighs less than its dual-motor siblings also plays a part in its higher range figure.
In the Taycan RWD, the 105kWh battery drives a single 435hp, 420Nm motor on the rear wheel (hence RWD), unlike the 4S, which gets 517hp (598hp with Overboost function) and 695Nm of peak torque, courtesy the dual-motor set-up. Porsche claims a 0-100kph time of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 230kph for the entry-level Taycan.
11kW AC charger takes 11 hours to charge 105kWh battery
Like the rest of the range, the Taycan RWD also comes with an 800V architecture that provides fast charging capabilities up to speeds of 320kW capabilities. Under ideal conditions, the 105kWh unit would be able to charge from 10-80 percent in just 18 minutes. Or, to put it into perspective, 315km of range can be added in 10 minutes at this 320kW charging speed. However, Porsche provides an 11kW on-board AC charger that is said to take 11 hours to charge the battery from 0-100 percent.
