It’s Oscar night once again. The highly anticipated night has arrived, celebrating excellence in both artistic and technical aspects of filmmaking. Making his debut as host, comedian Conan O’Brien has set the stage for a spectacular 97th Academy Awards. One of the most touching moments of the night came when Andrew Garfield and Goldie Hawn stepped up to present the Oscars for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Animated Short Film. Taking a heartfelt pause, Andrew expressed his deep gratitude to Goldie for supporting his mother during a difficult time.
On the Oscars stage, Andrew Garfield expressed his gratitude to Goldie Hawn saying, “There is a person who gave my mother during her life the most joy and comfort – and tonight, I feel very lucky because I get to thank that person from the bottom of my heart. That person is Goldie Hawn.” He added, “You’ve given us movies full of joy. You’ve lifted our spirits and you’ve made us feel it all was right with the world, over and over again.” Andrew Garfield’s mother, Lynn Garfield, reportedly died of pancreatic cancer in 2019.

Goldie Hawn was visibly moved by Andrew Garfield’s words and responded, “Thank you so much, that really touches me. I was so lucky [to] make movies… and making people laugh, And maybe some didn’t, but that’s okay.”
Apart from their heartfelt interaction, Andrew Garfield and Goldie Hawn shared another lighthearted moment on stage. While delivering her pre-written script, Goldie had to pause, struggling to read what was on the screen. Without hesitation, she turned to Andrew for help, and he quickly stepped in to assist her. The fun exchange drew smiles from the audience, and viewers praised Andrew for his thoughtful gesture.
Meanwhile, Flow claimed the award for Best Animated Feature Film, emerging victorious over Inside Out 2, Memoir of a Snail, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl and The Wild Robot. Meanwhile, In the Shadow of the Cypress, directed by Hossein Molayemi and Shirin Sohani, won the Best Animated Short Film category.
