NIA raids multiple locations in Kashmir

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday carried out raids at several locations across Kashmir Valley in connection with a militant conspiracy registered last year. NIA teams, along with the police and paramilitary forces, carried out raids in Srinagar, Pulwama, Kulgam, Anantnag and Shopian districts.

The officials informed that the case was registered in 2022 to investigate the criminal conspiracy for carrying out militant and subversive activities allegedly hatched by the cadres and over ground workers of various proscribed organisations and their affiliates and off-shoots, operating under various pseudo names, at the behest of their handlers in Pakistan.

The officials suspect that they are involved in carrying out attacks by exploiting the cyber space in J&K, targeting of minorities, security personnel and spreading communal disharmony. “Initial searches carried out last year had led to the seizure of digital devices which were analysed forensically. Current searches are based on those leads,” an official said. On Monday, the NIA carried out a raid at the residence of a local, Uzair Azhar Bhat of Karfali Mohalla in Srinagar.
