Netflix is all set to bring The Chronicles of Narnia to the screen in a new avatar. The much-anticipated adaptation of the beloved C.S. Lewis fantasy novel series is set to be directed by Greta Gerwig, and the production will begin later this year. The excitement surrounding the film series was heightened when Hollywood star Daniel Craig’s name was associated with it.
The James Bond actor is in talks to join the cast of the film series, as reported by Deadline. While the specific role for which Daniel has been approached in Gerwig’s reimagining is not known yet, sources have confirmed that the actor was offered a role. However, whether he would ultimately agree to take the offer or not also remains to be seen in the coming days. Previously, the same media outlet reported that British pop star Charli XCX was offered the role of White Witch in the new film series.

The 57-year-old British actor starred as Detective Benoit Blanc in Rian Johnson-directed mystery film franchise Knives Out. The first film in the series was released in 2019. Three years later, in 2022, the second film, titled Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, saw the light of day. Currently, the actor is waiting for the release of the next instalment, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. It is scheduled to be released later this year.
Back in 2018, Netflix announced that they planned to develop new series and film projects based on C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia once again, securing the rights to the entire book series. Two years later, in 2020, the streaming giant brought Greta on board. She will be directing the first movie, making it her highly anticipated project after the immense success of her 2023 fantasy comedy Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
While many details about Netflix and Greta’s ambitious project are not known yet, the movie is reportedly going to get an exclusive two-week IMAX global run for Thanksgiving 2026 in advance of the film’s release on the streamer.
