In Hajin area of Bandipora in northern Kashmir, suspected militants shot dead Muhammad Amrej, a labourer from Bihar, at his rented accommodation in Sadunara village. The incident took place around 1 am. His relatives sleeping in a nearby room heard the gunshots and rushed to his room. “We saw him lying in pool of blood and immediately called the army,” said a relative.
He was rushed to nearby hospital in Hajin, from where he was referred to a hospital in Srinagar, where he succumbed. His body was later shifted to the Sumbal hospital for final medico-legal formalities. Police has registered a case regarding the incident and investigation is going on.
In another incident, suspected militants fired at special police officer Ghulam Qadir on Friday afternoon in Kir Kadal area of Bijbehara in southern Kashmir’s Anantnag.
Qadir was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where his condition is stated to be critical. The police immediately cordoned off the area and search for the assailants continued till late evening.
