Jaideep Ahlawat-starrer crime thriller Paatal Lok was recently released on Prime Video on January 17. In the groundbreaking digital series, Merenla Imsong has also been widely praised for his portrayal of Rose Lizo, creating a buzz among fans. Only a few know that the actress is a writer, content creator, and stand-up comedian who has made significant contributions to the Indian entertainment industry through her diverse talents.
Born and raised in Nagaland, Merenla Imsong pursued a master’s degree in zoology from Delhi University. Following her education, she sought a career in the entertainment industry, merging her academic background with her love of performing arts. She then began her career in the entertainment industry as a stand-up comedian, gaining recognition for her sharp humour and relatable performances.
Later, she appeared in several notable projects, including the film Axone (2019), which explores the challenges faced by the North-Eastern community in Delhi, and 99 Songs (2019), a musical drama where Merenla contributes to the narrative with her acting skills. She also appeared in Call My Agent Bollywood (2021), a series that delves into the lives of talent agents in the film industry in Mumbai.
Beyond her professional endeavours, the actress is known for her active participation and engaging personality in cultural events through her social media handle. Merenla has been involved in various initiatives that support emerging talent in the entertainment industry and encourage the arts.
Coming to Paatal Lok Season 2, the series delves deeper into the dark underworld of society, crime, and corruption, following Inspector Hathiram Chaudhary as he unravels the layers of deception in a high-profile murder case. Directed by Avinash Arun, the series opens with the discovery of a decapitated body in Nagaland House, Delhi. As Inspector Hathiram Chaudhary investigates a high-profile murder, he leads him to remote corners of Northeast India, where he battles powerful forces and personal tragedies in his pursuit of truth.
