While we have nearly every bit of info regarding the Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e, just the prices of select mid- and higher-spec variants have yet to be revealed. Mahindra had announced prices for the entry-level BE 6 and XEV 9e Pack One variant at the end of November, and then revealed the top-spec XEV 9e and BE 6 Pack Three’s price at the start of January.
On the sidelines of the recent Auto Expo 2025, Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO of Mahindra’s Auto and Farm division, gave us a timeline of when we can expect the price announcement of the mid-spec XEV 9e and BE 6 Pack Two variant. “We will announce the schedule [of the rollout] for [Pack Two] by the end of March,” he confirmed.
- Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e have four variants each
- Only top-spec Pack Three gets 59kWh and 79kWh battery options
- Introductory prices for BE 6 and XEV 9e Pack One variant will continue
As was revealed when both born electric SUVs achieved a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, the Be 6 and XEV 9e have a total of four variants each. The entry-level Pack One, the mid-spec Pack Two and the top-spec Pack Three all get the 59kWh battery pack that has an MIDC range of 556km in the BE 6 and 542km in the XEV 9e. Only the top-spec Pack Three trim gets the larger 79kWh battery pack as an option, which is said to go 682km on a single charge in the Tata Curvv EV rival, and 656km in Mahindra’s answer to the upcoming Tata Harrier EV.
Another detail that has yet to be announced are the exact features available on the mid-spec Pack Two trims. For reference, here are the features available on known BE 6 variants, while the XEV 9e sports a slightly longer list.
Interestingly, Jejurikar also confirmed that the introductory price that the Pack One variants were launched at will continue for the foreseeable future. “We have said that we will hold on to the price we announced for Pack One whenever we introduce that,” Mahindra Auto and Farm Sector’s ED and CEO said.
The BE 6’s starting price of Rs 18.90 lakh does make it more expensive than most its current rivals in the segment such as the Tata Curvv EV (Rs 17.49 lakh) and Hyundai Creta Electric (Rs 17.99 lakh). While the MG ZS EV’s starting price of Rs 18.98 lakh is marginally higher than the Mahindra’s, the top-spec variant of MG Motor India’s mid-size e-SUV (Rs 26.64 lakh) costs slightly less than the range-topping BE 6 (Rs 26.90 lakh).
It remains to be seen if the Mahindra XEV 9e‘s Rs 20.90 lakh-30.50 lakh price range will be competitive against the likes of the Tata Harrier EV.
