Kia India has unveiled a new top-end variant of its popular compact SUV – the Kia Seltos. Called the Kia Seltos X-Line, the SUV was first showcased as a pre-production concept at the 2020 Auto Expo.

Now, earlier in 2019, the Korean carmaker did unveil an X-Line concept at the LA Auto Show, however, that one was a more off-road specific model that came with rally lights, off-road tyres on custom alloys, and a front-mounted winch.

The Seltos X-Line showcased in India, on the other hand, is just a more aggressive-looking, dark-themed version of the regular Seltos.

As of now the company hasn’t revealed the detailed specifications of the SUV, however, those will be announced at the time of its launch in September 2021. The higher-spec GTX+ variants of the Seltos are priced between ₹ 16.65 lakh to ₹ 17.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the X-Line trim will be positioned above them.

Visually, the Kia Seltos X-Line comes with several cosmetic changes that give it a meaner and more robust appearance. The X-Line comes in a new dark themed paint job, and Kia is calling it the exclusive matter granite exterior, and the rest of the styling bits are treated in glossy black finish.

Up front, we get a new glossy black grille, and while the headlights continue to get the same design, they now get a smoked effect.

The front bumper has also been slightly restyled, which now get a revised airdam with an orange highlight. The profile of the SUV also gets the same design, but styling updates include glossy black ORVMs, along with a set of new 18-inch crystal-cut matte graphite alloy wheels with an orange ring around the hub cap.

At the rear, we get to see smoked LED taillights, along with revised cladding that looks more aggressive.

As for the cabin, the design and layout remains largely similar, but this too gets a dark theme, along with new Indigo Pera leatherette upholstery. The SUV continues to get the same features like the 10.25-inch touchscreen display featuring the UVO connected car system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other features like the automatic climate control, sunroof, air purification system, Bose sound system and others too have been carried over from the regular Seltos.

Engine options for the Kia Seltos X-Line are likely to include the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol motor and the 1.5-litre diesel engine. The former is tuned to make 138 bhp and 242 Nm of peak torque and is likely to come with the 7-speed DCT automatic unit as standard.
