The Kia Carens has officially sold over two lakh units in India since it launched here three years ago. Alongside this sales milestone, Kia also revealed some notable statistics about Carens buyers, such as 58 percent of them opting for the MPV’s petrol engine options.

32 percent of customers went for the Carens’ iMT, automatic, and DCT transmission options, while 24 percent of them purchased the top-spec Luxury Plus and X-Line variants, which start at Rs 18.99 lakh and Rs 19.49 lakh respectively. A staggering 95 percent of Carens buyers chose the 7-seater configuration, and 28 percent opted for the variants with a sunroof. The Carens gets a sunroof from the Gravity variants onward, which start at Rs 12.29 lakh.
Kia Carens price, rivals, and powertrains
Pricing for the Kia Carens range starts at Rs 10.59 lakh and extends all the way up to Rs 19.69 lakh. The MPV chiefly competes with the Maruti Suzuki XL6, Toyota Rumion, and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
The Carens offers one diesel and two petrol engine options. The former is a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 115hp and 250Nm of torque, which can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter auto gearbox. Entry-level petrol variants get a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit that’s good for 115hp and 144Nm and can only be had with a 6-speed manual transmission, whereas pricier Carens variants offer a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol motor developing 160hp and 253Nm, mated to either a 6-speed iMT or 7-speed DCT.
Kia Carens facelift and EV
Both reportedly coming this year
After nearly three years on the Indian market, the Carens will receive a facelift this year. Production of the facelifted Carens is slated to commence sometime around May 2025. Additionally, Kia is prepping a Carens EV to rival the BYD eMax 7. The all-electric Carens could debut sometime in the first half of the year.
