Kaun Banega Crorepati 16: Amitabh Bachchan reveals why he stopped eating tehri, saying, “Haath se jo khaane ka mazaa hai, woh kahin aur nahi aata.”

The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 opened with Amitabh Bachchan hosting the Fastest Finger First round, where Chandni Choudhary secured her place on the coveted hot seat.

A heartwarming video introduced Chandni’s journey. A student at FMS in Delhi and a Bronze Medalist in the 2023 Cyclethon, she appeared on the show to raise funds for her startup, Saarthi. As the game progressed, one of the ₹3000 questions centered around the Awadhi dish “tehri.” Without hesitation, Chandni correctly identified Uttar Pradesh as the answer.

While elaborating, Amitabh Bachchan drew a comparison between tehri and biryani, noting their similarities but distinct preparation methods. He shared a personal anecdote, reminiscing about his love for tehri, though he had since given it up. In his signature style, he casually added, “Aisa koi wajah nahi hai, bas aise hi ek din mann aaya, chalo chawal nahi khayenge.” Chandni, a self-proclaimed rice lover, chimed in, recounting an interview where her fondness for rice had been met with an unexpected negative reaction. This sparked a light-hearted conversation between her and Big B about the joy of eating rice with one’s hands.

Bachchan, ever the storyteller, remarked, “Par haath se jo khaane ka mazaa aata hai woh kahin aur nahi aata—chawal-dal, usko mila karke kha liya.” As the episode unfolded, Chandni shared more about Saarthi, revealing that the startup had moved beyond the concept stage, boasting a functional prototype. They were actively seeking funding, and Chandni seized the moment to pitch her idea directly to Amitabh Bachchan, who responded with his classic charm.

Chandni elaborated that Saarthi was designed to assist the elderly and people with disabilities—communities often overlooked and vulnerable. Impressed by her vision, Bachchan lauded her initiative. Adding a humorous twist, he inquired how the app could help if he wanted his house cleaned. After Chandni explained the process, Big B playfully quipped, “Are you from Uttar Pradesh and do you know the meaning of ‘safai’ there?” He then joked, “Aake humari ghar ki safai kardo, lekin sab leke humari ghar ki safai karke chali jaayegi.”

His witty comment had the audience erupting in laughter, perfectly capturing the light-hearted spirit that has kept Kaun Banega Crorepati a beloved show for over two decades.

Celebrating its remarkable 25-year run, the makers commemorated KBC’s silver jubilee earlier this year. Amitabh Bachchan has been the face of the show since its inception in 2000, except for the third season, which was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. The silver anniversary episode featured a special surprise—Harshvardhan Nawathe, the show’s very first Crorepati, made a nostalgic appearance, further enriching the celebratory broadcast.
