The Congress on Thursday declared that Siddaramaiah would serve as the chief minister and DK Shivakumar as the deputy chief minister. This came after rounds of meetings and deliberations upon the Karnataka CM’s decision. The news was warmly welcomed by the people of Bengaluru, who greeted the two leaders with great enthusiasm upon their arrival.
Both the leaders also met senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on Friday to discuss all possible names to be inducted into the cabinet and formally invite the party high command for the swearing-in ceremony today.
The two leaders, who flew in from Bengaluru along with general secretary in-charge Randeep Surjewala, held a series of meetings on Friday in the national capital over cabinet formation.
The deliberations over the cabinet continued till late at night as top central and state leaders sought to draw a balance between all sections, groups, communities, and regions while accommodating all.

Congress-in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala invited allies from other parties to the oath-taking ceremony. The grand old party emerged victorious with a significant vote share and a number of seats in the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023, claiming 136 seats in the southern state.Â
