Karan Johar shut down Ozempic rumours, revealing his weight loss came from lifestyle changes, not medication, and opened up about body dysmorphia.
Karan Johar says lifestyle changes, not Ozempic, led to his weight loss transformation.
Karan Johar’s drastic physical transformation has become the talk of the town, with fans and social media users speculating if the filmmaker turned to Ozempic, a drug approved for Type 2 diabetes that’s recently been trending for its weight loss side effects. However, in a candid chat with Raj Shamani on his podcast, Karan set the record straight and revealed that his journey had nothing to do with any medication.
“I have always been battling the bulge,” he said. “I’ve tried thousands of diets, five hundred kinds of workouts, every type you can imagine. Every diet, every workout routine, I’ve tried it all. I’ve been combating this for years.”
Karan further revealed that it wasn’t until he got his blood work done recently that he discovered he had thyroid and other health issues that needed attention. This marked a turning point in his fitness journey. “It was only recently, after years, when I got my blood work done that I found out I had certain thyroid issues and other problems that I needed to fix and I’ve been working on correcting them.”
On persistent rumours linking him to popular weight-loss drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro, Karan responded firmly. “Now people ask me, ‘Are you on Mounjaro? Are you on Ozempic?’ I’m tired of these comments. People don’t know my truth. You don’t know.”
Talking about how his current transformation is rooted in wellness, the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani director shared, “Long story short, I know that I am very healthy. I’ve never felt lighter, never felt better. I’ve never, ever felt more confident in my own skin and that gives me nothing but joy.”
Karan also opened up about his long-standing battle with body image issues. “After 52 years, I finally feel confident. Otherwise, I do suffer from body dysmorphia. It’s when you feel ashamed of your own body. When you feel awkward without clothes on. I go through that even now. I can’t even look at myself in the mirror.”
