Siddharth Sagar reflects on his journey with Kapil Sharma
Siddharth Sagar, best known for his comic stints in Comedy Circus and The Kapil Sharma Show, has often made headlines for more than just his on-screen humour. After going missing in 2018 and later opening up about his battles with addiction, trauma and depression, Siddharth has now spoken about his time working with Kapil Sharma and Krushna Abhishek on the comedy talk show.
Reflecting on his experience, Siddharth told host Siddharth Kannan, “Badhiya tha… bahut acha wahan pe bahut characters kiye aur wo alag tarha ka maza tha… Kapil paaji ko bhi bahut maza aata tha… ye alag fraternity hai… kabhi Sunil Grover-Kapil Sharma aapko sath dikhte hain, kabhi koi aur dikhta hai, ye chalta rahega.” (It was great… I played many characters there and it was a different kind of fun… even Kapil paaji enjoyed it… this is a unique fraternity… sometimes you see Sunil Grover and Kapil Sharma together, sometimes someone else—it goes on.)
While some have speculated about tensions or insecurities on the set, Siddharth dismissed the idea that Kapil or Krushna might have seen him as competition. “Maine dhyaan nahi diya… mera dhyaan kabhi gaya hi nahi ki mujhe koi competition maanta hai… nobody is replaceable in this world… Sunil Grover ka koi replacement kabhi nahi ho sakta… Kapil aur Krushna ka koi replacement nahi ho sakta.” (I never paid attention to that… I never even thought someone might consider me competition… no one is replaceable in this world… there can never be a replacement for Sunil Grover… nor for Kapil or Krushna.)
Siddharth revealed that he worked on the show for eight months before it wrapped up and eventually moved to Netflix. “Maine 8 mahine kiya tha wo show… maine isliye aagey kaam nahi kiya kyunki season khatam bhi ho raha tha aur show jaa raha tha Netflix pe.” (I did that show for 8 months… I didn’t continue because the season was ending and the show was shifting to Netflix.)
On not being invited for the Netflix version, he said calmly, “They didn’t call me… but I wasn’t upset that they didn’t ask me.”
For Siddharth, inner peace matters most. “Mera career jo hai wo apni gati se chalega… sabse important agar meri is jeevan ka koi hissa hai wo mera state of peace hai…” (My career will move at its own pace… if there’s anything important in this life, it’s my state of peace.)
