Jaideep Ahlawat, known for his powerful performances in projects like Raazi and Paatal Lok, is currently grabbing attention for his upcoming project Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins. However, a new buzz has emerged around his name involving Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious mythological epic Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor.
According to a report by ETimes, Jaideep was approached to play the role of Vibhishana, Ravana’s righteous brother, in Ramayana. While he was reportedly keen to be a part of the project, he had to let go of the opportunity. The reason? Prior work commitments and scheduling conflicts.
Ramayana already boasts a powerhouse ensemble cast. Ranbir Kapoor takes on the role of Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi is cast as Sita, and Yash will be seen as Ravana. Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, and Kunal Kapoor are also playing important roles in the film, which is being made in two parts.
Director Nitesh Tiwari is helming the project, while producer Namit Malhotra officially announced the release plans last month. In a statement, Malhotra said, “More than a decade ago, I embarked on a noble quest to bring this epic that has ruled billions of hearts for over 5000 years to the big screen.” He added, “Join us as we fulfill our dream of bringing our greatest epic to life with pride and reverence… Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.”
Meanwhile, Jaideep Ahlawat is gearing up for his next release, Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins, which premieres on Netflix on April 25, 2025. Directed by Kookie Gulati and Robbie Grewal, the film also stars Saif Ali Khan, Nikita Dutta, and Kunal Kapoor. In the action-packed thriller, Jaideep and Saif’s characters join forces to steal the Red Sun, Africa’s most prized diamond.
The film’s song Jaadu, featuring Jaideep’s infectious dance moves, has already gone viral. The catchy track has been composed by OAFF and Savera, with lyrics by Kumaar and vocals by Raghav Chaitanya. Fans are now eagerly awaiting the film’s release to watch Jaideep in this new avatar.
