ICICI Bank partners NPCI to launch Rupay credit cards


has partnered with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to launch a range of credit cards on the native payments network Rupay.


The first card – ICICI Bank Coral RuPay Credit Card – is a contactless card to provide users with numerous benefits of reward points on daily purchases such as shopping, utility bills, complimentary domestic airport and railway lounge access, discounts on movie tickets and dining, among others. It also offers accidental insurance coverage and 24×7 concierge services.

“This partnership has combined the advantages of ICICI Bank Credit Cards with Rupay’s exclusive offerings, providing enhanced benefits to customers. We will add more cards from our Gemstone collections to the ICICI Bank Rupay debit and credit cards family,” said Sudipta Roy, head, credit cards, payment solutions and merchant ecosystem of ICICI Bank.

NPCI was established in 2008 as an umbrella organization for operating retail payments and settlement systems in India. It has become a pioneer in facilitating digital payments in the country through its bouquet of retail payment products such as Rupay card, UPI, BHIM and Bharat BillPay, among others.
