Honda Navi leads in scooter exports -DellyRanks

[ad_1]

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), which has a stranglehold in the domestic scooter market, continued its dominance of the export scooter market with shipments of just under 3.12 lakh units. This translates into strong 35 percent YoY growth – an addition of over 80,000 units over FY2024’s 2.31 lakh units.

  1. Honda topped exports with 1.43 lakh Navi units, garnering 25 percent of total scooter exports.
  2. Yamaha Ray and TVS NTorq took No. 3 and 4 spots, ahead of Activa
  3. Burgman, Jupiter, and Maestro dropped in exports and ranks

FY2025 Scooter exports

Honda leads with a 25 percent share in total exports

Standing at over 5.69 lakh units, export of Indian scooters scaled a new high in FY2025. They were led by Honda and its discontinued-in-India Navi scooter which, with over 1.43 lakh units, had a 25 percent share of total overseas shipments. Out of the Top 10 most exported scooters, Honda has three models, while Suzuki, TVS Motor Co and Hero MotoCorp have two each, and Yamaha one.

Interestingly, a Honda model which is no longer sold in India, continues to deliver the goods on the export front which, to some extent, would be helping amortise the costs the company had invested in developing this made-in-India product. This is the Honda Navi, which offers the convenience of a scooter and sports the looks of a motorcycle.

In its three years in the US market, the Honda Navi is understood to have become one of the best-selling two-wheelers there. In the USA, the Navi is currently sold for USD 2,099 (Rs 174,000) albeit it is restricted to the city due to its low top speed.

The Honda Dio is second on the Top 10 scale with over 1.27 lakh units, and is followed by the Activa. India’s best-selling scooter however is ranked lower down (No. 5) in export demand, with just over 41,000 units .

The 125cc Yamaha Ray, with over 68,000 units exported is ranked No. 3, and is followed by the TVS NTorq 125 with just under 65,000 units, which registered flat exports.

The 125cc Suzuki Burgman clocked exports of just under 34,000 units, which saw it drop down to sixth position from fourth in FY2024.

The TVS Jupiter, the company’s best-selling scooter in India, is ranked No. seven on the export scale. The figures were just over 19,000 units, pulling it down from fifth rank it had in FY2024.

With just under 19,000 units, the Hero Maestro is ranked eighth on the scooter export ladder-board. The Hero Xoom wraps up the Top 10 list with just over 8,000 units.
