While Hero is still ahead of Honda, the difference between the two is less than 10,000 units.
June 2024 saw market leaders Hero and Honda finish quite close in terms of overall sales and here, we’ll give you a detailed rundown of how each major two-wheeler OEM fared.
Hero MotoCorp: 4,91,416 units
Hero reported a slight 1.35 percent decline compared to its May 2024 sales number of 4,98,123 units. However, it reported a 16.24 percent increase compared to the 4,22,757 units it sold in June of last year. Hero’s Xoom scooter lineup will expand this year and to read more about that, tap here.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India: 4,82,597 units
With 4.82 lakh units sold, Honda has closed down the gap to Hero and it has done so while reporting an 7.10 percent increase compared to its May 2024 sales tally of 4,50,589 units. Compared to its curiously low June 2023 sales number of 3,02,756 units, it reported a substantial 59.40 percent increase. TVS Motor Co: 2,55,734 units
Compared to the 2,71,140 units TVS sold in May 2024, it reported a 5.68 percent decline in June. But, compared to its June 2023 numbers (2,35,833 units), the Hosur-based company reported an 8.44 percent increase. Bajaj Auto: 1,77,207 units
Bajaj’s June sales numbers were lower by 5.91 percent than what it clocked in May 2024 (1,88,340 units). However, it reported an 6.56 percent increase compared to its June 2023 sales figure of 1,66,292 units. Suzuki: 71,086 units
June was the first month after a few strong months where Suzuki reported a slump in sales numbers. Compared to its unusually strong May 2024 sales figure of 1,11,512 units, it reported a 36.25 percent decrease. Nevertheless, compared to its June 2023 sales figure (63,059 units), it reported a 12.73 percent increase. Royal Enfield: 66,117 units
Royal Enfield reported a 4 percent increase in June compared to the sales figure of 63,531 units it posted in May. However, this was 2 percent lower than what the company managed to sell in June last year, at 67,495 units.
