Priyanka Chopra’s Heads of State is gearing up for its much-awaited release on Amazon Prime Video. Helmed by Ilya Naishuller, the upcoming Hollywood movie features Priyanka alongside Idris Elba and John Cena. It will be released on July 2. The makers recently unveiled the trailer, offering a glimpse into the action-packed narrative.
Shortly after the trailer release, fans have shared their reviews on Reddit and X (formerly Twitter). A majority of viewers did not like Priyanka’s limited screen time and asked her to make a comeback in Bollywood with more meaningful roles, while others simply expressed their eagerness to watch the film.
A Reddit user commented, “This is the most boring trailer I have seen in a while, and I thought Citadel was the boring one. Hollywood is very similar to Bollywood, which is similar to Netflix these days. Soulless, celeb-packed films with weak stories, cash-making machines, loads of CGI, meh action, monotone dialogues and casts who have no chemistry with each other. It’s time PC breaks this pattern. It’s been years, we expect better.”
“If you ask me, Priyanka doesn’t even deserve this based on her track record of over 10 years in Hollywood now,” another added.
Expressing their discontent, one user said, “Did dirty to Priyanka lol. I guess she will remain underutilised in Hollywood. (Maybe coz of intense competition, unlike in Bollywood now), Is she getting typecast? She’d better come back to Bollywood professionally.”
“Am I the only one who felt Priyanka wasn’t in the trailer. Trying to look badass instead of you feeling she is badass,” commented a fourth user.
An account remarked, “I saw this movie as part of an exclusive preview. Priyanka has a very limited role and screen time in the movie.”
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), a user wrote, “I’m begging Vishal Bhardwaj to send her a script. I want Barfi and 7 Khoon Maaf Priyanka back.”
The action-comedy trailer begins with a series of tragic yet comic events. It shows the US President (John Cena) and the UK Prime Minister (Idris Elba)
realising that their first joint diplomatic trip is ruined as their flight is attacked mid-air. They decide to set aside their rivalry and save the world from the ‘worst security breach in history.’
Priyanka, on the other hand, steps in as a MI6 agent Noel Bisset, who single-handedly fights off armed goons and navigates dangerous situations. The trailer showcases their on-screen dynamic, filled with hilarious banter amid intense action sequences as they face a powerful and ruthless foreign enemy.
On the cinematic front, Priyanka Chopra is all set for a grand return to the Indian film industry with the highly anticipated film SSMB 29. Helmed by SS Rajamouli, this action-adventure epic will feature her opposite Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Reportedly, she will also reunite with Hrithik Roshan in Krrish 4. While an official release date and other cast members of the film are yet to be announced, the film is expected to release in theatres in 2026.
Besides Heads of State, the actress has a packed Hollywood schedule. Priyanka is gearing up for the release of the action-thriller The Bluff opposite Karl Urban. She has also been roped in for Judgement Day. The film features a star-studded cast including Will Ferrell, Michael Peña, Zac Efron, Regina Hall, Bobby Cannavale, Billy Eichner, Jimmy Tatro, and Fortune Feimster.
Fans will also see the star reprising her role as Nadia in Citadel 2 from the Russo Brothers. The spy-thriller series wrapped up filming in late November 2024, but the release date is yet to be announced.
