Gyanvapi mosque case: One verdict tomorrow, another case to be heard in July

A court in Mathura will hear a plea for a court appointed commissioner to conduct videography, sealing the Shahi Eidgah mosque and deploying security to ‘protect Hindu inscriptions and artefacts in the mosque’ on July 1. The litigants have alleged the ‘inscriptions and artefacts in the mosque were being destroyed’ in the light of developments in the Gyanvapi mosque case.

A fresh application was filed by advocates Mahendra Pratap Singh and Rajendra Maheshwari on Tuesday, seeking sealing of the disputed Eidgah mosque complex and its security increased so that ‘evidence of Sanatan temple are not destroyed’. All applications, including Yadav’s and Singh’s will be heard on July 1.

Manish Yadav, who filed the petition before the court of civil judge in Mathura on May 13 for Narayani Sena, had alleged the ‘idols and artefacts in the mosque premises were being destroyed’. The petition was filed a day after the Allahabad HC ordered a Mathura court to dispose all cases related to the Eidgah-Krishna Janmbhoomi dispute in four months.

The verdict in one of the cases related to Eidgah-Krishna Janmbhoomi is scheduled for Thursday. The case is related to a petition filed through Ranjana Agnihotri and five other devotees of Lord Krishna, seeking removal of the mosque adjacent to the temple complex.
