The revised rules will enable MPs to recommend developmental works as per the requirement of their constituency.
Rao Inderjit Singh, minister of state (independent charge) of the ministry of statistics and programme implementation (MoSPI), also unveiled a new website to track funds flow under the scheme. “The entire process of fund flow under the revised guidelines will operate through the web portal, which will facilitate real-time monitoring, greater transparency and accountability in the system, and improved efficiency and effectiveness of the MPLAD Scheme,” the ministry said.
The launch of the revised guidelines and the website will be followed by a two-day conference for officers of state governments and Union Territories on the new website.
The MPLADS scheme had been discontinued after Covid-19 started spreading in the country. It was restored on November 10, 2021.
Under the scheme, each MP is entitled to a fund of Rs 5 crore annually, which is released in two instalments of Rs 2.5 crore each.
