BLACKPINK’s Jennie released a new track, Like Jennie, sparking debate over its similarities to a song from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Fans noticed resemblances in beats.

Blackpink’s Jennie is being accused of copying Alia Bhatt’s Rocky Aur Rani song.

The internet loves a good mystery, and the latest one has music fans buzzing. K-Pop band BLACKPINK’s Jennie just dropped a new track, and some Bollywood lovers think it sounds a little too familiar. Specifically, they’re drawing comparisons to a song from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.

Naturally, this has led to a full-on debate online. Netizens have been striking similarities between her track Like Jennie and the Rani intro theme from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Some fans believe it’s just a coincidence, while others aren’t so convinced.

The buzz started when fans picked up on similarities between the beats, hook, and melody of both songs. Many on social media couldn’t help but notice that Jennie’s Like Jennie sounds strikingly similar to the signature tune composed by Pritam for Alia Bhatt’s grand entry scene in Karan Johar’s 2023 film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Side-by-side comparisons quickly flooded the internet.

Fans didn’t hold back when the comparisons started rolling in. One user quipped, “Plagiarizing a Bollywood song is crazy work,” while another added, “Pritam getting copied was not on my bingo card!” Some even thought Alia Bhatt outshined Jennie, with one saying, “Alia did better, omg this sounds the same!”

Bollywood and Pritam fans also joined the debate, with one joking, “She saw Pritam in every desi’s top 5 Spotify Wrapped and decided to steal his nachos,” while another took a stronger stance: “If Pritam isn’t credited, then boycott because wtf?”

However, not everyone was on the attack. A Jennie fan came to her defense, pointing out, “Pritam literally copied Pehli Nazar Mein note for note from a Korean song without credit. He probably did the same here—sampled an international track without legal credits—whereas Jennie will actually acknowledge the sample.”

Check out some reactions on X:

Neither Jennie nor her team has commented on the claims. But what are your thoughts?
