Bollywood star Deepika Padukone, who recently stepped into motherhood with the birth of her daughter Dua, is back on Instagram with a thoughtful reflection that has left fans smiling. In a candid new video, the Pathaan actress opened up about a dilemma she’s asked about often, choosing between Mumbai and Bengaluru.
The video, shared on Wednesday evening, begins with Deepika getting her hair styled. When someone behind the camera asks if she misses Corner House, a popular dessert spot from her hometown, Deepika smiles and replies, “I do miss it but I’m actually in a way glad there isn’t one in Mumbai because that would require different level of will power.”
She then addresses the much-asked question head-on: “Bombay or Bengaluru?”
Her answer is equal parts nostalgic and grounded. “Whenever I come back to Bangalore, it feels like home, you know, because this is where I’ve lived a large part of my life. This is where I’ve grown up, my friends, my school, my college, so all of those formative years and those experiences have all been here,” she shares.
But her love for Mumbai runs just as deep. “Bombay again because professionally, that’s where my life began and that’s where home is now, and the energy in Mumbai is very very different so, it’s very difficult to choose one over the other. But I feel like both cities have really influenced my 39 years.”
The post also includes a heartwarming montage of unseen photos from Deepika’s childhood, school, and college years in Bengaluru, interspersed with throwbacks from her modelling days in Mumbai.
Captioning the video, she wrote: “A question I get asked ever so often…Bengaluru or Mumbai?”
Deepika, who was last seen in Singham Again as DCP Shakti Shetty, has not yet announced her next project post-motherhood. However, industry buzz suggests that the makers of Kalki 2 are keen on having her return for the sequel.
