BTS’ Jin embraced grueling challenges, including a tough Mt. Hallasan hike, to create heartfelt content for Run Jin, says HYBE producer.
Jin has released three solo tracks with BTS.
BTS member Jin returned to the spotlight just five days after completing his military service, leading the variety show Run Jin. The series, which echoes the spirit of the group’s beloved Run BTS, features Jin embarking on adventurous challenges, including a hike up South Korea’s Mt. Hallasan, while interacting with celebrity guests and everyday bystanders alike.
In a recent Weverse Magazine interview, Ryu Songhui, head of HYBE Media Studio’s Original Content Planning Team, shed light on Jin’s dedication to the show. According to Ryu, Jin’s strong sense of responsibility toward his fans, ARMY, played a crucial role in shaping the program.
“Jin was actually the one who came up with the title Run Jin,” Ryu shared. “While many YouTube shows use a talk show format, Jin liked the variety show concept.” The production team aimed to create a series that conveyed Jin’s gratitude to his fans, especially since he was the first BTS member to return from military duty.
One of the show’s highlights was Jin’s grueling hike up Mt. Hallasan, an idea born from his desire to push himself for ARMY. Ryu recalled, “He told us, ‘I can handle some tough stuff. Feel free to really put me through the grinder and make it hard on me.’ He was more than willing to take on the challenges.”
The producers were impressed by Jin’s ability to engage with people of all backgrounds. “Jin naturally brings out something new and different with guests of all ages. His influence, combined with the writing and directing efforts, turned each guest collaboration into great content. For that, we’re incredibly grateful,” Ryu said.
The revelations about Jin’s hard work and determination struck a chord with fans, who expressed admiration across social media. One ARMY member wrote, “We’ve seen his journey, and he’s truly given his all. So grateful to him!” Another shared, “He’s been working non-stop since his discharge—he really deserves a break now.”
Some fans highlighted Jin’s unwavering dedication to ARMY. “He always strives to make us happy,” read one comment, while another praised the camaraderie forged during the show: “Hearing how the crew bonded during the Mt. Hallasan hike is heartwarming. Those memories will last forever thanks to Seokjin. Go #RunJin!”
