Varun Dhawan’s Baby John struggles at the box office, earning Rs 2 crore on Day 6, with its total at Rs 29 crore net in India.
Varun Dhawan’s latest film Baby John continues to face challenges at the box office. Despite a star-studded cast that includes Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff, and Rajpal Yadav, the mass action drama struggled to maintain momentum, registering a significant drop in collections on its first Monday.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Baby John earned an estimated Rs 2 crore on Day 6, taking its total domestic collection to Rs 29 crore net, according to Pinkvilla. The film, which opened with Rs 10.75 crore on Christmas Day, witnessed a steady decline in its daily earnings. It garnered Rs 4.25 crore on Day 2, Rs 3.25 crore on Day 3, Rs 4.25 crore on Day 4, and Rs 4.50 crore on Day 5.
The extended opening week collection of Rs 27 crore marked a slow start for the action-packed drama. While the film is expected to cross the Rs 30 crore mark tomorrow, its current trends indicate a limited theatrical run, likely to conclude under Rs 40 crore. Given its budget and scale, this result would categorize Baby John as a major box office disappointment.
The film follows the story of Inspector Satya Verma (Varun Dhawan), known by his alias Baby John. Satya leads a peaceful life in Kerala with his daughter Khushi (Zara Zyanna) and his old friend Ram Sevak (Rajpal Yadav). However, his serene life takes a turn when Khushi’s teacher, played by Wamiqa Gabbi, uncovers his hidden identity as a fierce and relentless inspector.
The narrative takes audiences six years into the past, delving into Baby John’s life when he was married and fighting against Babar Sher (Jackie Shroff), a powerful figure exploiting young women. The story unfolds as Baby John seeks justice for his wife Meera (Keerthy Suresh) and embarks on a journey to combat exploitation and corruption.
Despite its compelling premise and high-octane action, Baby John has failed to resonate with audiences at the box office.
