Last year, Salman Khan received a number of death threats by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. They threatened to kill him if he failed to comply with certain demands. Despite that, the Bollywood superstar continued shooting for his projects including his upcoming film, Sikandar, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. In a new interview, director AR Murugadoss opened up about the intense shooting process of the film, which involved a lot of ‘high security’ for Khan due to the death threats he received.
Talking about the experience of working with Salman Khan, Murugadoss said, “Salman sir is completely different. The scale of Sikandar was massive, we often had scenes with 10,000 to 20,000 people on set. Managing such large crowds required high security and intense coordination. Our schedule was so demanding, and it became more hectic with the threat.”
He added, “Post that, the security was tightened and the checking of all the extra artistes on set would take 2-3 hours daily. Their entries and exits took major of our days and we would often start the shoot late and ended late by wee hours of the morning. Our biological cycle went on toss. But once we adapted, it became a routine, and the set had a very positive energy.”
Sikandar also stars Kajal Aggarwal and Rashmika Mandanna. The plot of the film is being kept under wraps.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan has been under constant threat, leading to increased security around him. On November 5 last year, the Mumbai Police received a threat message allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The message gave the actor two choices—either apologise or pay Rs 5 crore to ensure his safety.
“If Salman Khan wants to stay alive, he should go to our (Bishnoi community) temple and apologise or pay Rs 5 crore. If he does not do so, we will kill him; our gang is still active,” the message said.
“In the case of a threat to Actor Salman Khan, the process of registering the case is underway at Worli Police Station. The number from which the message came is being traced,” news agency ANI quoted the Mumbai Police as saying.
Two motorbike-borne assailants had also opened fire in April last year outside Salman Khan’s residence at Galaxy Apartments in Bandra West.
