Here’s some news that will make every Bollywood fan smile: Dhadkan is returning to the big screen on May 23, 2025! Yes, the same Dhadkan that gave us soulful songs, intense drama, and one of the most iconic love triangles in Hindi cinema. So hold onto your chiffon dupattas and crank up the Tum Dil Ki Dhadkan Mein playlist.
Starring Shilpa Shetty, Akshay Kumar, and Suniel Shetty, the film was first released in 2000 and quickly became a fan favourite. Now, 25 years later, it’s coming back to selected theatres across India in a digitally remastered version with better sound and picture quality.
Directed by Dharmesh Darshan, Dhadkan tells the story of Anjali (Shilpa), who is caught between two men— her past love, Dev (Suniel), and her present husband, Ram (Akshay). It’s a story full of emotion with love, heartbreak, anger, and hope. Suniel Shetty’s intense dialogues, Akshay’s calm and gentle charm, and Shilpa’s emotional performance touched hearts back then and they still do today.
And let’s not forget the music! Songs like Tum Dil Ki Dhadkan Mein, Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se, and Na Na Karte are still played at weddings, road trips, and even heartbreak playlists. The film’s soundtrack is one of the main reasons why it became such a hit.
Originally released over two decades ago, the film is returning to the theatres as a part of a special screening initiative to celebrate iconic Bollywood films.
Dhadkan, released in 2000, was a musical romantic drama directed by Dharmesh Darshan and produced by Ratan Jain. It also featured Mahima Chaudhry, Sharmila Tagore, Parmeet Sethi, Kiran Kumar, Sushma Seth and Manjeet Kullar in supporting roles.
Loosely inspired by Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights, Dhadkan tells the emotional story of Anjali and Dev, who are madly in love and dream of spending their lives together. But fate has other plans—Anjali’s family disapproves of Dev and arranges her marriage to the kind and steady Ram instead. Heartbroken, Dev disappears from her life.
Years later, he returns, determined to win her back. But things have changed—Anjali has moved on and truly fallen in love with her husband Ram. What follows is a storm of emotions, heartbreak, and choices that test love, loyalty, and forgiveness.
