Adventure motorcycles are a growing segment, and each manufacturer has been out to offer one of its own in recent times. Their versatility, high ground clearance and rugged build make them great for Indian conditions. However, the high stance can be quite intimidating for a lot of riders and we’ve put together a list of all the adventure bikes under Rs 4 lakh with a manageable seat height as standard.

6. Hero Xpulse 210

830mm

The recently launched all-new Hero Xpulse 210, with a seat height of 830mm, has the highest seat height on this list. The Xpulse 210 is currently available in two variants that don’t alter its seat height, but an off-road-ready ‘Pro’ variant is expected to follow. When launched, this more capable variant’s seat height could go up to 891mm or more, similar to what we saw with the Xpulse 200 4V Pro.

The all-new Xpulse 210 received a slew of upgrades, including a new engine, chassis and an updated feature list. At Rs 1.76 lakh for the base, the Xpulse 210 is Rs 24,000 dearer compared to the Xpulse 200 4V.

5. KTM 390 Adventure

While the KTM 390 Adventure shares the same seat height as the Xpulse 210, it earns a higher spot on this list due to its superior ground clearance of 237mm (compared to the 220mm on the Xpulse 210). Not to mention that the 390 Adventure is a motorcycle from two segments above and is priced accordingly at Rs 3.68 lakh. This being a larger and much more capable off-roader still manages to keep the seat height at 830mm. This seat height is also lower compared to the previous 390 Adventure that came with a 855mm seat height. 

4. Xpulse 200 4V

825mm

The Hero Xpulse 200 4V is going to be sold alongside the all-new Xpulse 210. The older model here has a slightly lower seat height, although it felt like a commuter with off-road capabilities, which has been addressed in the recently launched Xpulse 210. The Xpulse 200 4V stands as an amazing commuter that can be taken off the tarmac, every once in a while. If out-and-out off-roading is your thing, then Hero will also sell you a Pro variant, which further increases the seat height to a rather tall 891mm. The Xpulse 200 4V is priced from Rs 1.52 lakh and goes up to Rs 1.68 lakh for the ‘Pro’ variant.

3. KTM 390 Adventure X

825mm

The KTM 390 Adventure X is the more road-focused sibling of the 390 Adventure. This is reflected in its 19/17-inch (F/R) wheel setup, which plays a key role in the 5mm drop in seat height. At 825mm, this reduction may not feel significant from the saddle, but the smaller 19-inch front wheel will be noticeable.

Priced at Rs 2.91 lakh, the KTM 390 Adventure X is a substantial Rs 77,000 more affordable than the standard 390 Adventure.

2. Royal Enfield Himalayan 450

825mm

The Himalayan 450 shares the 825mm seat height with the previously mentioned bikes, but where it stands out is in its adjustability and accessories. The standard seat height is 825mm, but it can be raised to 845mm for taller riders. If these numbers seem intimidating, Royal Enfield offers an optional low seat accessory, bringing the seat height down to a much more accessible 805mm—the lowest on this list. However, this lower seat is only available as an accessory. Pricing for the Himalayan 450 starts at Rs 2.69 lakh and goes up to Rs 2.84 lakh

1. Yezdi Adventure

815mm 

While the Himalayan 450 offers the lowest seat height on this list with its optional 805mm low seat, the Yezdi Adventure stands out by offering a significantly lower seat height of 815mm as standard. This makes the Yezdi Adventure much more accessible straight from the factory, especially for shorter riders, without the need for additional accessories. It is priced from Rs 2.10 lakh and goes up to Rs 2.20 lakh.

Suzuki Vstrom SX 

835mm

The Suzuki V-Strom SX missed our final list due to a 5mm disparity from our cut-off. However, it is pertinent to note that Suzuki offers an optional low seat, providing a 25mm drop. This brings the V-Strom SX’s seat height down to an even more accessible 810mm. The V-Strom SX is priced at Rs 2.16 lakh.
