Ranbir Kapoor made a comment about eating beef during a 2011 television interview that resurfaced in 2022 and led to controversy and protests.
Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has stirred controversy yet again, this time with an indirect remark about Ranbir Kapoor’s presence at the Ram Mandir inauguration in Ayodhya. In a recent interview with Bollywood Thikana, the singer expressed his displeasure, stating, “When Ram Mandir was inaugurated, a person who eats beef was invited, aur aap Gau Mata karahe hain.”
The Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya saw the attendance of several Bollywood stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, and Ayushmann Khurrana. However, Abhijeet’s indirect dig at Ranbir Kapoor sparked a debate among fans.
Ranbir Kapoor made a comment about eating beef during a 2011 television interview that resurfaced in 2022 and led to controversy and protests. The comment resurfaced in 2022 during the promotions of Ranbir’s film Brahmastra. Bajrang Dal activists protested and prevented him and his co-star and wife Alia Bhatt from entering the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Citing Ranbir’s past statement as offensive, the activists declared they would not allow him to enter the temple.
Abhijeet also shared his thoughts on the 2013 film Besharam, where he sang “Dil Ka Jo Haal Hai” alongside Shreya Ghoshal. Reflecting on the movie, he remarked, “Thank God, I am not a singer of this era. I sang a song, ‘Dil Ka Jo Haal Hai,’ in a super flop film. The song wasn’t a hit. No one knows about the song’s film. However, if you play the song, you would know who sang it.”
He added, “Even if the floppiest song plays, people would know whose song it is, and not the hero or film attached to it. The property belongs to the music company. They have the rights, and we don’t get royalty. However, everyone has ears and the voice that goes to the ear and heart is mine.”
Directed by Abhinav Kashyap, Besharam starred Ranbir Kapoor and Pallavi Sharda in lead roles, alongside Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor. The film opened to largely negative reviews and was a box office failure, which Abhijeet did not hesitate to highlight in his comments.
